Meet Our Patients – Everyone Has A Story

The impact of BEST PT on my life cannot be understated. Six years ago I was completely debilitated by a chronic inflammatory condition. From a life of traveling frequently for a demanding career to bed bound.
I could barely stand up, walk any distance or tolerate sitting at the time I began treatment at BEST.
My therapists have gone above and beyond to meet my needs. They have made adjustments necessary for my specific condition, progressed me safely, avoiding flares and modifying all exercises specifically for my needs – a truly personalized regimen.
My therapy has been life changing. I have regained the ability to operate in a variety of circumstances, learned ways to be safe in my limited but expanding activities and increase my tolerances to work tasks and daily activities while still managing my pain. This is no easy feat!
I have resumed my career, enjoying a demanding role which requires more than full-time effort. Physically tolerating that would have been unthinkable at the beginning of this journey. I am amazed and grateful for the path BEST has lit for me, encouraging me every step of the way.
While I am still working to improve my standing, walking and other tolerances, which can be expected with my diagnosis, there is continued forward progress, increased strength and longer tolerances. My world has expanded and I am hopeful that it will continue to expand. I’m excited to see how much I can regain from what was lost. Light has replaced darkness.
I am truly grateful for BEST. My life has been changed for the better in every aspect because of a strong, well planned physical therapy program. My quality of life has been restored, and I continue to fight for more mobility with BEST PTs guidance to light the way.
Thank you all!

I’ve probably been in PT at least 10 times, for various issues, and Kinjal is the best physical therapist I’ve worked with. She strikes that perfect balance of pushing me to improve without killing me in the process. She has a watchful eye to ensure I was using correct form on the exercises and stretches. Through the entire process I felt she cared as much as I did about my recovery.
Just a few months after working with Kinjal I was back running (against my surgeon and Kinjal’s advice) and doing all the physical activities I love. I’ve had no setbacks and at my 6 month mark I was running 5 miles 3 times per week and feeling great.
I believe my results are directly connected to the work I did with Kinjal. I also had the opportunity to work with other therapists at BEST and in every case I found a knowledgeable and friendly person to assist.

On December 5, 2020 I was in a head on car collision that almost cost me my life. My injuries were life threatening, too many to mention. One of the most severe injuries involved my left leg, a compound fracture of my tibia and fibula, with the tibia being completely shattered. Over the last year the trauma surgeons have done six different surgeries to rebuild my leg, for which I will be forever grateful. Lucky for me, I have had Adan by my side every step of the way.
When I first met Adan I was three surgeries in. At that time I couldn’t move my ankle at all or any of my toes, everything felt like it was locked. As I was 100% non weight-bearing, my first visit was on crutches and in a walking boot for protection for my leg which was still stitched up and healing. I was a bit apprehensive about what PT would do since I was in such bad shape and honestly doubtful that I was going to have a full recovery. Adan’s knowledge about human anatomy was amazing and he described each part of my leg, why it was or wasn’t working and what he was going to do to help me get back on my feet. Adan patiently worked with me to provide baby steps (literally!). As the surgeries continued Adan gave me pain relief by working to loosen the scar tissue while providing exercises to rebuild my muscle strength.
My trauma surgeon at Stanford has repeatedly said this is the worst break he has ever seen, yet every step of the way Adan has made me feel like full recovery is possible. We have progressed from basic movement of my leg and ankle, to taking my first steps. As I face each surgery literally feels like one step forward and two steps back. Adan made me feel hopeful and took away the doubt I had about my recovery. Adan has kept me focused on what it is going to take to walk again and how we are going to get there. It has been 14 months since my accident and almost three months since my last surgery.
My twice weekly visits with Adan are a lifesaver. I am happy to say that I can walk on my own, without a cane or crutches. Although I cannot walk as fast as I once did, I can walk which is a miracle in itself. Adan continues to focus on strength building and functional use of my leg and ankle and keeps me focused on what it is going to take to be 100%.
As terrible as my accident and recovery has been, the one bright light has been Adan. He is knowledgable, patient, and truly cares about me and my recovery. I truly believe without Adan’s expertise and dedication to my full recovery, I wouldn’t be walking.

I first came to BEST Physical Therapy at one of the lowest points of my life. I was playing recreational basketball with my friends during quarantine to stay active, and one night I jumped, landed, and tore my Achilles. It was a shocking moment as I was only 24 at the time and was surprised the injury happened at such a young age.
When I went to the doctor to get my MRI, I was devastated when they said I had to get surgery to repair it. I worried so much about what my future would look like and if I would be able to return to playing the sports I loved. That’s when my life crossed paths with Priya. Priya was highly professional, immensely supportive, and very informative about my injury. She came prepared with notes to every session and always took the time to look at my injury from the rehabilitation viewpoint and help me keep my mindset on the right track for success. This is what made my expectations of physical therapy change forever. It showed me that by following her program, giving it my all, and focusing on the road ahead, I would be able to return to the life I once had.
This is what motivated me every day, and now almost eight months after injury, I can say ecstatically and gratefully that Priya truly changed my life. Just this past month, I went on my first trip back snowboarding with my friends. I had a great time and no pain with my injury! It is remarkable how passionate and dedicated BEST Physical Therapy is to its patients. They will always create the time to check in and make sure that you are doing well and understand all the exercises assigned to you, and I found this touch to be quite admirable.
At the end of the day, I know life will continue to throw curveballs at me, but I want to thank the BEST Physical Therapy team and Priya from the bottom of my heart for all their help. They have given so much back to me, and I hope this helps someone else out there take that leap of faith and seek Priya’s guidance in the future.
